A quick personal review can help you to define your purpose and identify the objectives which you wish to pursue. Most people will ask themselves the important questions once in their life but they fail to recognise that life is constantly changing and that they change too in order to adapt to the new demands which life places upon them. In addition, they are constantly having new experiences which help to shape their knowledge, skills and identity. For this reason, it pays to have regular personal reviews 2-3 times per year; to ensure that their life is still on track. However, there is a quick personal review, which I would recommend conducting on at least a monthly basis which ensures that things are running smoothly.

9 Questions for a quick personal review

The following questions are designed to help you conduct a quick personal review and ensure that you are travelling in the right direction.

1. What are your strengths?

What are greatest assets, attributes and qualities?

 2. How are you using these strengths in your life?

Are you making the best use of these strengths or is there more which you could be doing?

 3. What are you good at?

Be as specific as possible and list the activities in which you excel.

 4. Are you placing sufficient focus on the activities which you are good at?

It is important to focus on your strengths. Are you doing so?

 5. What excites you?

What are the areas of life which fill you with passion, enthusiasm and excitement?

 6. How can you find more time for these activities?

You may need to dump or delegate some activities from your life so that you can include more of the stuff which excites you.

 7. What are your proudest achievements since your last review?

Knowing your greatest achievements allows you to build confidence and identity potential opportunities. Note: if this is your first review then identify your proudest life achievements.

 8. How can you build upon these achievements?

Achievements help you to identity new areas where you can excel and opportunities for greater success.

 9. What do you enjoy sharing or teaching other people?

We all have knowledge or skills which we enjoy sharing with others. However, it is easy to overlook this when identifying strengths and opportunities. If you enjoy teaching something, and you are good at, then it is likely that these are areas which you could explore for opportunities.

Most people review their life once, make some changes and then never think about it again. To succeed in life, they need to change their focus to regular reviews which enable them to identify opportunities as early as possible.  When coaching clients, I encourage them to conduct a full life review at least 2-3 times per year. In the intervening period, a quick personal review, conducted at least once per month will help to ensure that they are staying on track. A quick personal review takes just 5-10 minutes but reaps rewards that can save an incredible amount of time while reducing stress and waste. Use the 9 questions above to conduct a quick personal review now, and schedule a quick personal review each month. You will soon see the amazing benefits which it will bring to your life.
